Tasty, easy tomato sauce with ground beef and sausage cooks in just 15 minutes in the Instant Pot, or simmers all day in the slow cooker.
Using the Sauté setting on the Instant Pot, Sauté on High: bacon fat, ground beef, onions, celery and carrots until meat is browned, stirring to crumble, about 7 minutes.
Add wine, cook another 2 minutes.
Add tomatoes, spices and pesto. Stir well, then tuck the bay leaf in just under the surface of the sauce. Layer the sausages just on top.
Cook 15 minutes manual high pressure, natural pressure release. Remove the sausages and keep warm. Remove bay leaf if you can find it. Stir in parsley if using.
Combine sauce with 1 lb spaghetti, prepared according to package directions. Serving size is 1/6 of the recipe with one sausage per serving.
This recipe is ideal for the Instant Pot, but if you prefer it can be cooked in your slow cooker for 6 hours on low.
